Tattoo design software that runs in your browser

INKLAB is a free online drawing app built for tattoo artists: pressure-sensitive liner, shader and dotwork brushes, layers, mandala symmetry and local .inklab project files. Nothing to install.

Works with Wacom, XP-Pen, Huion and iPad pressure input.

INKLAB studio canvas with a symmetric mandala tattoo design in progress

Everything in one canvas

Built for tattoo artists, not generic illustration

Every tool maps to how flash sheets, blackwork and dotwork pieces are actually drawn.

  • True pressure sensitivity

Pointer Events read pen pressure directly, so line weight tapers exactly like a machine liner.

  • Liner, shader and whip brushes

Sharp contour liners, soft-edge shaders and fast-tapering whip strokes with per-brush defaults.

  • Stamp-based design brushes

Stipple spray, hatching, cross-hatching, leaf and grain brushes with spacing, scatter and jitter.

  • 2 / 4 / 6 / 8-way mirror mode

Radial symmetry guides turn a single stroke into a full mandala and can be switched mid-drawing.

  • Layer system

Add, duplicate, lock, hide and reorder layers, adjust opacity and drop in reference images.

  • Stroke stabiliser

Smooth drawing mode filters hand tremor so mouse and pen curves stay clean and confident.

  • Shape library

Geometric bases, stars, ornaments, frames and banners you can scale, rotate and recolour.

  • Autosaving .inklab files

Your work is written straight to a local file as you draw, with crash recovery if power drops.

  • High-resolution PNG export

Export the artboard at 2x pixel ratio with symmetry guides automatically hidden.

How it works

From blank canvas to stencil in three steps

  1. 01

    Pick a canvas

Start a project at A4, A5, 2000×2000 or 2K 3:4 and choose where the file lives.

  2. 02

    Draw with real brushes

    Switch brushes with V, G, W, D and E, resize by right-drag, mirror with S.

  3. 03

    Save and export

The .inklab file updates as you work; export a print-ready PNG when you're done.

FAQ

Common questions

Is INKLAB really free?
Yes. Every brush, layer tool and export option is free, with no account and no watermark.
Does it work with a graphics tablet?
Yes. INKLAB reads pen pressure through the Pointer Events API, so Wacom, XP-Pen, Huion and iPad styluses control line weight naturally.
Where are my drawings stored?
In a local .inklab file on your own computer, plus a browser-side recovery snapshot. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Can I draw mandalas and geometric tattoos?
Yes. Mirror mode supports 2, 4, 6 and 8 segments and can be changed at any point in a drawing.
Do I need to install anything?
No. INKLAB is a web app — open it in Chrome or Edge and start drawing. Chromium browsers also allow live autosave to a real file.
Can I export my design for printing?
Yes, you can export a high-resolution PNG of the artboard at any time.
